Lina Dolk is a well-known name in the equestrian world and a true inspiration with a deep passion for animals. On the farm in Sparreholm you will not only find horses, but also the active (formerly picky) border collie Charlie and the stable cat Bellman. Hi Lina! Tell us who you are and which animals live here on the farm?
My name is Lina Dolk, I am 26 years old and I live here on the family farm in Sparreholm. Here I run my horse business, where I mainly train and educate dressage horses. On the farm there are also many other four-legged animals, such as my dog Charlie, who is my "tail". We also have a few stable cats, including Bellman.
What is important to you when choosing food?
For me it is really important to choose a food that I feel is good for my animals. Since I work a lot with the animals, they need to be able to perform, and Charlie needs the energy to be with me in the stable twelve hours a day and feel well. I am perhaps more careful about what my dogs, horses and cats eat than about what I eat myself...
What were your first thoughts when you heard about food based on insects?
For me, insect-based food for dogs and cats was something completely new. When I came into contact with Petgood, I got to learn a whole new world. I have known that you can feed insects and that it is a good and environmentally friendly protein source for animals, but I maybe did not know exactly how and why it is so good. Something I got to learn, thanks to Petgood, is that dogs and cats account for 25% of global meat consumption. That is an extremely high number, so it is something we all need to think about - especially those of us who have these four-legged animals.
What do Charlie and Bellman think about the food?
It has previously been very difficult to get my dog Charlie to eat. He is very, very picky. Given that he moves around a great deal during the day, I am very keen for him to get plenty of nutrition, which has not always been so easy. Since we switched to Petgood, there has been a big difference. We no longer need to force the food into him; instead he eats right away and is very happy! He even licks around his mouth when you come with the food bowl, and I am very glad about that. Our stable cat Bellman also eats with a very big appetite. It is quite fun to sit and watch him when he eats, because he really wolfs down Petgood's food, and that is also a very good grade!
